Boys And Girls Club Receives Donation From Local Women

The COVID-19 pandemic has not stopped a group of philanthropic women in the Saint John area from helping the community.

100 Women Who Care of Greater Saint John met virtually Tuesday to decide which organization would receive $24,200 from its members.

The group heard five-minute presentations from three groups: St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation, Hestia House, and the Boys and Girls Club of Saint John.

After hearing the presentations, the women voted to make their latest donation to the Boys and Girls Club of Saint John.

The local chapter of 100 Women Who Care has now donated more than $723,000 since its inception more than seven years ago.

Every quarter, members meet for an hour to hear presentations from local charities which have been nominated by members and randomly selected ahead of time.

The women select the winning charity or non-profit organization by way of a vote and each member writes a $100 cheque.

100 Women Who Care will meet again virtually on December 1.
