Brain Injuries On The Rise

The number of people who suffer from brain injuries is growing. The New Brunswick Trauma Program has a new Concussion Recognition Tool designed specifically for those without a health-care background. This provides a step-by-step process to recognize and respond if you suspect you’ve suffered a concussion

Shea Embry played in the Canadian Football League as a middle linebacker and sustained a number of concussions including a bad one in 2011. Embry says he thinks about the after effects all the time and has seen disturbing trends among his friends which include suffering from depression and even ending in suicide so it’s very real for him.

It’s reported from 2014 to 2016 in New Brunswick, 6 per cent of unintentional injuries that were reported resulted in a traumatic brain injury.
