Burn ban lifted across N.B.

Burning restrictions are being loosened across New Brunswick after a month-long burn ban.

The ban was put in place across the province back on Aug. 6 due to extreme wildfire risks.

As of Monday afternoon, the Department of Natural Resources said burning was allowed between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m.

The move to loosen restrictions came after some rain over the weekend and a reduction in the number of wildfires.

Nine active fires were burning throughout the province as of Monday afternoon, according to provincial data.

That includes an out-of-control blaze in Northumberland County known as the Beaver Lake Stream fire, which is at 456 hectares.

One other fire is listed as contained and seven are being patrolled, meaning the fire is fully contained and there is little to no fire activity.
