If you’ve been down Germain Street of late, you will have noticed the work being done to the Bustin’s Building which is being transformed.
Keith Brideau of Historica says the inside of the building has been gutted and will be renovated for use by businesses and into loft apartments.
The building, when done, will house an Italian restaurant, a pub, a comedy club, Tuck Interiors, an office and 8 loft apartments. Brideau says because of its age, the building needed a lot of structural repair and all the windows are being replaced.
The building is 110 years old and Brideau says will still be called the Bustin’s Building into the future.
Another high profile location in the uptown will soon be put to commercial use for stylish women. The former Birks store at the corner of King and Canterbury Streets will soon be reopening as Lorden late this month.
The owner, Kate Thompson is closing Silver Daisy on King Street, which opened in 2010, and moving to Birks with a new name. She says the new store will be more upscale merging the casual, cool vibes of the California desert with the posh feel of London.
