Busy Night For Fire Crews In Saint John

It was a busy night for fire crews in Saint John.

Platoon Chief Eric Garland says fire crews responded to multiple calls regarding a fire at 1700 Hickey Road at the Park Place apartment buildings.

The call came in just before midnight and upon arrival fire crews discovered smoke in the hallway of the first floor where a grease fire had started in one of the apartments.

Garland says two occupants were in the apartment and a woman was looked at by paramedics but did not need transportation to the hospital.

Fire crews were also called to 669 Loch Lomond Road for a structure fire early this morning at a single-story commercial building that houses a taxi garage and a motorcycle club.

Garland says the fire was quickly knocked down, but not before it damaged the siding on the outside of the structure.

The fire is currently under investigation by the Saint John Fire Department and City Police.
