A javelin thrower from Saint John won gold at the Canadian Track and Field Championships last weekend in Edmonton.
Caleb Jones beat two competitors representing Canada at the Pan Am Games.
Jones says winning a gold medal was a great feeling despite battling an injury for the majority of this year and not qualifying for the Pan Am Games.
Jones throw was 75 centimeters short of qualifying for the Pan Am Games being held in Toronto.
He says his ultimate goal is to go to the Olympics in 2020.
Jones says the best part of his success is being able to show other athletes in New Brunswick that you don’t have to leave the province to reach success.
