It will take some time for Saturday’s rain to make its way through the river system and when it does water levels may rise slightly.
Provincial EMO Director Greg MacCallum is urging patience as water levels remain high.

In a Sunday afternoon briefing, he reports some progress in the City of Fredericton where levels are gradually diminishing however, the weekend rain will cause a slight rise in water levels on Monday.
MacCallum says residents should expect slight fluctuations over the coming days.
The water has receded in some areas meaning people will want to go home.
He urges them to ensure it is safe to do adding they don’t want anyone to make a move too early and put themselves in harm’s way.
“Safety first always before you go back into your property,” MacCallum said, “the long-term forecast notwithstanding the waterways continue to be dangerous. The levels remain well above flood stage virtually everywhere between Fredericton and Saint John.”
