Calls Continue In Legislature For Premier To Resign

Premier Brian Gallant continues to be called on in the Legslature to resign because of the controversy over inflated property tax assessments. He has been accused of fast tracking a new property tax assessment system so the provincial government could increase its revenue.

Saint John East M-L-A Glen Savoie says the Premier is losing in the court of public opinion.

Over 15 thousand requests to have assessments reviewed have been received from property owners in the province. To date, about 33 hundred errors have been identified.

New property tax bills are expected to be released in June and July. Service New Brunswick expects the process to continue until late this year and into early 2018.
