The delays with the Energy East pipeline have been frustrating to the Chambers of Commerce in six provinces. They have now launched a campaign to generate public support for the project to get a move on.
The President and C-E-O of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, Perrin Beatty is hoping the campaign will send a message to the federal government.
There’s a letter on the Chamber websites that can be sent electronically to MP’s in the six provinces. Beatty says the danger of delay is losing out on long term international contracts. He has talked to European businesspeople who are asking can you deliver and Beatty admits, right now, we can’t which means Canada oil is being sold to the U.S. at a discount.
