Canada Free Trade Agreement Called A Failure

John Barlow, the Interprovincial Trade critic for the Conservatives, calls the recently announced free trade agreement among the provinces a failure because it doesn’t go far enough.

Barlow says it allows most provinces to maintain unnecessary trade barriers on energy, forestry and alcoholic beverages.

He’s hoping a court decision in New Brunswick which permits you to buy cheaper beer in Quebec and bring across the provincial border is upheld. Barlow is calling on the federal Liberals to intervene in favour of what the court decided.

The New Brunswick Government is appealing that decision.

Barlow says it’s easier for a local craft brewer to sell beer in the U.S. than it is to sell in another province in Canada.
