Canada’s Health Minister thinks some of the Atlantic provinces are doing some innovative work around changing the way we treat the elderly.
Jane Philpott, who is a family doctor, says we need more ways to keep people home as long as possible and not in a hospital– the most expensive place to provide care.
Philpott says the care at the hospital is excellent, but people would prefer to be at home.
Some experts on aging want to get away from the institution-style nursing homes.
