The Concerned Citizens of Charlotte County say we’ve had a victory, but the battle is not yet over.
The group announcing the operating room at the Charlotte County Hospital will be open on Monday and staff have been called back to work.
Co-chair John Gardner says we still need a lot of recruitment, “We need to prove to government that our OR [operating room] is in fact part of the provincial solution. We need to fully utilize our hospital, we need to fully utilize the facilities, including the OR.”
Gardner says we still need to convince Horizon to bring day surgeries to St. Stephen, and it will be critical to get an anesthesiologist to our area in order to do general anesthesia.
He says we also need to recuit more surgeons to use the facility, and since many doctors are becoming an aging population, we will need some new general practitioners as well.
