There have been some changes to the city’s solid waste bylaw you should know about before you go to put out your trash and compost on garbage day.
- Construction and demolition material aren’t going to be collected curbside any more.
- Loose garbage, small bags like grocery bags and items not bagged or bundled according to the bylaw won’t be collected.
- Bags or bundles can’t weigh more than 44 pounds and the green compost bins can’t weigh more than 220 pounds.
- Any dangerous items like broken glass have to be boxed and clearly labelled.
Starting a week from day, Saint Johners who don’t follow the bylaw won’t have their garbage collected.
