Changes To Garbage Collection In Saint John

There have been some changes to the city’s solid waste bylaw you should know about before you go to put out your trash and compost on garbage day.

  • Construction and demolition material aren’t going to be collected curbside any more.
  • Loose garbage, small bags like grocery bags and items not bagged or bundled according to the bylaw won’t be collected.
  • Bags or bundles can’t weigh more than 44 pounds and the green compost bins can’t weigh more than 220 pounds.
  • Any dangerous items like broken glass have to be boxed and clearly labelled.

Starting a week from day, Saint Johners who don’t follow the bylaw won’t have their garbage collected.
