Cherry Brook Zoo Hopes To Raise Money Through Gofundme Page

The Cherry Brook Zoo has started a go-fund-me page in hopes of making up for the funding cut by the city.

The city cut its funding down from $50,000 to $10,000.

Executive Director Martha McDevitt says the money raised through the go-fund-me page will go towards helping the zoo get through the winter season.

In a little over a week, the page has raised over $2,000.

The goal is to raise $50,000.

McDevitt calls the zoo a “sanctuary” for some of the animals who have been neglected, or come from abused homes.

She says the zoo gives back to the economy though conservation of endangered animals and tourism.

McDevitt says it would be “heartbreaking” for the people of Saint John to not want a zoo here.
