Chief Calls Federal Budget “Encouraging”

The Trudeau Government has allocated $8.4 billion for Indigenous issues over five years. The National Chief of the Congress of Aboriginal Peoples, Dwight Dorey calls this encouraging although he’s waiting to see the details of what’s in the budget for Aboriginal people who live off reserve.

Chief Dorey is also hoping the government bureaucracy gets on board.

The Atlantic Director of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation, Kevin Lacey doesn’t like to see the return to big deficits. Lacey says all too often in the past, money for infrastructure projects has become pork barrelling and used as a political slush fund.
