City Accepting Debit, Credit Payments Again

Saint John continues to make progress in restoring IT services following November’s ransomware attack.

The city is once again accepting debit and credit payments for many services, including Saint John Water bills and parking tickets.

Officials suspended electronic payments following the cyberattack, which led to a shutdown of all the city’s IT systems.

City Manager John Collin told council in December that he expects it will be late January before all services are restored.

The attack also affected the city’s email system and website. While many email addresses have returned to operation, the city’s full website remains unavailable.
