City Approves Millidgeville Medical Offices

A plan to build a 288-square-foot building containing doctors’ and dentists’ offices on a vacant lot at 431 Milidge Avenue has been approved.

Local resident Howard Yeomans said he’s seriously concerned about the traffic issues that could arise with the new development, which he describes as potentially “horrendous.” Common Councillor David Merrithew pointed out that with the Shannex development and related businesses going in, that intersection is poised to become a busy one, and the city will have to consider a traffic strategy.

Urban Planner Jody Kliffer says there’s always a general concern that developments on the outskirts of an urban centre can detract business from the uptown, but that’s not the case in this instance.

The proposal came fromy Dr Christian Parascan, a dentist, and his wife, who is a family doctor. Check out the application on page 30 of the common council agenda packet here
