Saint John has launched a new survey as it looks to gather input on the idea of temporary summer street closures.
It is one of more than three dozens ideas the city is looking at to encourage economic activity and community spirit while respecting physical distancing.
The survey, which takes about five minutes to complete, is open to Greater Saint John residents and businesses within the city.
“The scenarios laid-out in the survey are for illustration only. Responses will allow the city to make informed decisions,” said the city in a news release.
During a growth committee meeting last month, Councillor John MacKenzie said temporary street closures are “imperative” to help uptown restaurants survive.
But city manager John Collin said businesses they spoke with are “evenly split” on the idea.
At the end of the survey, participants will also be asked to contribute any other ideas they may have about what the community can do ot recover from the pandemic.
