City Looking At Installing Splash Pad In Forest Hills

Councillor Ray Strowbridge wants to see a splash pad installed in Forest Hills by 2020.

The estimated cost is from $450,000 to $500,000. Strowbridge believes enough money could be raised privately so it would only cost the city half that. He says there’s overwhelming support in his ward.

The splash pad would cost $50,000 to maintain on an annual basis.

Strowbridge says Forest Hills is a hub for recreation and that’s why a splash pad should be there in spite of concern over the volume of traffic along Westmorland Road.

He points out the west side will be getting their splash pad first. There are splash pads already at Flemming Court in the north end and Rainbow Park.

Saint John East MLA Glen Savoie argues the east side needs more recreation and has been marginalised compared to the priority neighnbourhoods in the city.
