Climate change is the hot topic at a meeting in Halifax tomorrow.
Federal Minister of Environment and Climate Change Catherine McKenna is meeting with her Atlantic Canadian counterparts.
Atlantic Premiers have committed the region to cutting greenhouse gas emissions 35% to 45% below 1990 levels in the next 15 years.
Louise Comeau of the Conservation Council of New Brunswick is urging ministers to invest in modernizing the electricity system.
She says accelerating investments in energy efficiency and renewable energy is key, combined with a phasing out of coal before 2030.
The Ministers are meeting in preparation for a First Ministers’ meeting in the fall.
