Common Council Votes To Adopt New Winter Parking Rules

With a winter for the record books now, thankfully, far behind us Common Council making some changes to the winter parking rules.

Council voting to keep the South Central Peninsula ban in its current form while calling for overnight parking bans on other city streets when required, and as well, having a delayed change-over in the peninsula when needed.

Mayor Mel Norton says staff recognize the most efficient way to do plowing is having no cars on the streets, however, he adds that they know that’s not realistic if they’re trying to encourage people to live in dense neighborhoods including the Southern Peninsula.

The vote for the parking changes was 8-2 with Councillors David Merrithew and Shirley McAlary voting against.
