Common Councillor David Merrithew was frustrated with the lack of progress in getting the Coast Guard site next to Market Square developed.
Merrithew also chairs the city’s Finance Committee and is optimistic that site will eventually be developed especially with the Irving Oil headquarters building going up in King’s Square which will act as a catalyst.
He argues development will beget more development and maintains you can see growth picking up in the uptown area.
Merrithew also doesn’t believe the proposed Energy East pipeline is dead even though it has been stalled for a year now.
