More budget deliberations coming up at Common Council tonight amid the clear message that there’s not enough money to meet everyone’s demands for next year.
Common Councillor Susan Fullerton makes a point by quoting Jack Welch, who was in charge of General Electric, that it’s better to change when you don’t have to than be forced into it.
She says the city should have changed the way it does business a long time ago but didn’t for whatever reason, whether it was because of a lack of political will or pressure from certain groups.
In talking about the city’s financial difficulties, Fullerton bluntly says we’re in a sinking boat and appear more concerned about what colour to paint it rather than bail the friggin’ boat.
