Concern Over Well Being Of Snow Plow Operators

Snow plow operators for the city have been going all out over the last week with one major storm after another battering Saint John.

The city’s Deputy Commissioner of Transportation and Environment Services, Kevin Rice says you have to keep a close eye on how well they’re standing up to the pressure of clearing the streets and working 16 hour days.

Rice says we’re not in a state of emergency now despite all the snow in a relatively short period of time. He says that happens when there are more streets that have to be cleared than the city has the resources to do or the streets are so clogged with snow, a fire truck can’t get through.

The city will be unveiling an aggressive snow removal plan once all these storms pass that will be round the clock and might last a couple of weeks.
