The Federal Conservative party critic for Atlantic Canada says the budget is not fiscally responsible.
The Liberal government is going to drive this country into debt, and could land Canadians in a lot of financial trouble, that from Conservative Scott Armstrong who lost his Nova Scotia seat in the last federal election
He says, “What is going to happen if in ten years or in the next five years, we face a huge economic recession like we did in 2008. No one saw that coming. We are not going to have the fiscal capacity to deal with that. it is a very risky budget and it is fiscally imprudent.”
Armstrong feels that running the country isn’t much different than budgeting for your family, “Families can spend themselves to oblivion and put themselves in massive debt to try and keep their children and other relatives happy and pay for everything, but that is just fiscally imprudent.”
He also says cuts to certain tax credits, are going to have an impact on the children. Armstrong says the children’s fitness tax credit, that was introduced by the Conservative government, was put in place to motivate and support parents, encouraging them to get active, “As a former elementary school Principal, one of the biggest concerns we have for young people now is the level of activity they have. Childhood obesity is reaching epic proportions across the country.”
As for the arts credit, he says all of the research shows that enrolling your children in dance and music activities has a very positive effect, but the Liberals have done away with that credit as well. Armstrong says Conservatives were using these ads incentives to parents to enrol their kids in these activities.
He says the Conservative government had a balanced budget the past two years, and this is the kind of economic spending policy that will blow all of that, and put us in a terrible financial situation.
