The Conference Board of Canada is reporting consumers didn’t feel all that confident last month with its consumer confidence index falling by more than 11 points.
There were declines in Atlantic Canada, B.C., Alberta and Ontario.
The index measures the level of confidence about our current and future financial situations, our willingness to make a major purchase and future job prospects.
The Conference Board has downgraded its forecast for economic growth this year from 2.4 to 1.9 per cent.
3 thousand people were surveyed by the Conference Board. Almost 40 per cent believe there will be fewer jobs, 23 per cent say their financial situation is worse now than it was 6 months ago and more than 42 per cent say it’s a bad time to make a major purchase.
