A Blacks Harbour company has been recognized nationally for its achievements in impacting Canada’s business landscape.
Cooke Aquaculture was named the winner of the 2018 Private Business Growth Award during a gala in Toronto last week.
Now in its sixth year, the award recognizes private businesses who have accomplished outstanding successes in strategic, sustainable and holistic growth.
Cooke Aquaculture began in 1985 with a single marine cage site containing 5,000 salmon and has since grown to become a global seafood leader.

A total of 10 companies were in the running for the award, including Woodstock-based Franchise Management Inc.
An eight-person jury selected the winner based on several categories, including innovation, market development, people and culture, strategic leadership, and improvement in financial measures.
The award is a partnership between The Canadian Chamber of Commerce and Grant Thornton.
