Counterfeit cash, drugs seized in St. Stephen

Two men have been arrested after police seized counterfeit money, drugs, and illegal cigarettes in St. Stephen.

Mounties were called to a local business on Tuesday evening after someone reportedly tried to pay with a counterfeit $50 bill.

The suspect left the scene in a white SUV, which officers stopped on Milltown Boulevard a short time later.

A 31-year-old man driving the vehicle and his 40-year-old passenger were arrested at the scene.

Police said they searched the men and the vehicle, and seized counterfeit cash, contraband cigarettes, and illegal drugs.

Both men were later released from custody and will appear in court at a later date.
