Crews respond to structure fire on Westmorland Road

Saint John fire crews responded just before midnight Sunday to a fire on Westmorland Road in east Saint John.

Chief Rob Nichol said the blaze began as an exterior fire and crews were able to quickly extinguish the bulk of the fire.

From there, crews searched for any fire that had extended into the building, but found there was minimal spread thanks to the quick knockdown on the outside.

Nichol said some exterior cladding was removed from the building and thermal imaging cameras were used to determine if there was any hidden fire.
