Crossroads for Women in Moncton is having a tough time raising money for their new building which will cost about $900, 000.
The current women’s shelter is not large enough to accommodate more than 200 clients a year who need their help.
Crossroads for Women executive director Tina Thibodeau says they just don’t have enough room for all women and children who need a safe haven.
She says, “Last year, our statistics are atrocious on how many clients we are refusing sat the doors, and when you look at Statistics Canada, it’s the same story.”
The problem is that the centre not only serves Moncton. It is the busiest shelter in New Brunswick.
Thibodeau says the capital campaign needs another $400, 000 before they can move into their new home by the end of this year.
