CUPE Ratification Vote Results Being Released

Ratification vote results on tentative contract agreements for more than 11 CUPE Locals in New Brunswick will be released today.

A deal was finally reached last weekend between the province and the union after more than 20,000 public sector employees spent 16 days on the picket lines.

Wages and pensions were the main sticking points.

Many workers returned to their jobs on Sunday and schools reopened on Monday.

A tentative deal was also reached with NB Liquor employees who had been poised to strike earlier this week.

Finance minister Ernie Steeves would not reveal the cost of the deals during a fiscal update on Tuesday noting how ratification was needed first.

Union leadership will unveil the voting results from Fredericton at 11 a.m.
