Martin O’Hanlon of the Canadian office of the Communication Workers of America tells us he has not spoken to any management or local union reps yet to hear any justification for the move.
He says he presumes the justification will be money adding they want to make more money and the easiest way to do it is to get rid of staff and to hell with quality.
O’Hanlon says this is a real blow because pictures are vital to a newspaper adding this occurred at the Chicago Sun Times and it was such a disaster that the photographers had to be hired back.
