Deadline for interveners in Chignecto Isthmus case

The application deadline is looming for those interested in taking part in the reference case before the Nova Scotia Court of Appeal regarding the Chignecto Isthmus

Court needs to determine whether the infrastructure protecting the interprovincial transportation, trade and communication links across the isthmus is Ottawa’s responsibility.

Tim Houston’s government asked for a Court of Appeal ruling this summer after Nova Scotia and New Brunswick reluctantly applied for federal funding to protect the isthmus from flooding due to climate change.

According to a government release, any person or group can apply to be an intervener until Friday (Sep 15) at the Law Courts building, on Upper Water St., Halifax.

The court will hear the applications on September 21st.
