Time is running out to get your nomination papers in for the upcoming municipal elections.
Spokesperson for Elections NB Paul Harpelle says, “Candidates have until Friday, April 8th at 2pm, in which to file their papers. The election is fully underway and signs are starting to pop up.”
As the nomination papers continue to come in, information for the candidates is posted on the Elections NB website, “Their information is populating our website. We have a list of the candidates posted on our website, and the list of candidates will continue to grow as more papers come in.”
Currently, only one candidate has come forward to run for Mayor in each one of the tri-communities.
Harpelle says, if candidates decide they want to pull out of the race, there is a deadline for that as well, “They have until Monday, April 11th at 5pm, to withdraw their names, so they do not make it to the ballot.”
The municipal election is being held on May 9th.
