Disgraced Former Common Councillor’s Home Sold

A public auction was held in the entranceway to the Peel Plaza Law Courts where former Common Councillor Donnie Snook’s home was sold to the Royal Bank which held the mortgage.

The bids started at 10 thousand dollars. The home at 575 Martha Avenue was bought for 45 thousand dollars with Charlie O’Brien also bidding but dropped out when he wasn’t willing to pay any more than 40 thousand dollars for it. He admits there’s a public stigma because Snook sexually abused young children which would make a sale difficult.

Auctioneer Amy Daly-Marr read out a long list of conditions beforehand including more than 11 thousand dollars in taxes is owing on the property.

Snook was arrested in January of 2013. He was sentenced to 18 years in prison for sexually abusing young children and now is serving his time in Mission, B-C.
