If you heat your home by burning wood, you know prices have jumped this fall.
Along with the hike in prices is the usual increase in those trying to make a fast buck at someone’s expense.
The Maritime Better Business Bureau’s Peter Moorhouse says its best to check supplier references before buying, don’t risk paying under the table and request proper paper-work at sale time. He says you should get receipts, full documentation with the company name, phone number, and HST number.
Moorhouse also says you should specify the type of wood and how much you want and make sure you get it.
He also says you can check the BBB’s website for more tips on buying firewood.
