Dryer Fire Causes 12 People To Be Displaced In St. Stephen

A fire in downtown St. Stephen this morning displacing a total of 12 people.
Chief Jeff Richardson with the St. Stephen Fire Department telling us the Fire Department got the 911 call just before midnight, to 1 Union Street, after an unattended clothes dryer caught fire.
Richardson says the fire was contained on the second floor, with few flames, but lots of smoke throughout the 5 unit apartment building. He says the dryer malfunctioned and the clothing inside burnt, but there was no structural damage to the building.
A total of 12 people being displaced, with a mother and her 3 children being assisted by the Canadian Red Cross with emergency lodging, food, and clothing.
