An eagle was returned to the wild earlier this month, thanks to the care of the Atlantic Wildlife Institute.
He was brought in from the Sussex area in the fall with a fractured wing.Once it healed, he was able to regain his flight.
Executive Director of Wildlife Care Pam Novak says it’s not uncommon for injured eagles to be brought in, “We actually have about a half a dozen eagles here right now that we are still caring for. We’re definitely seeing more eagles in more recent years, so we can have anyhere from 9 to 10 here eagles on site.”
Novak says they’ve seen a rebound in the Eagle population over the past few years, and that may be the reason they are seeing an increase in injuries.
She says the best part is once the birds heal, it brings tears to her eyes to see them fly away free once again..
