Traffic disruptions on the east side along heavily travelled streets from mid-April to September are a worry to businessowners who will be affected.
Sean Fillmore of On the Vine is one, based on how his business suffered last year during construction associated with the clean drinking water project. Fillmore says it would be a lot better for businesses if the work was done at night.
A meeting is going to be held at the end of the week to talk about the traffic disruptions. Common Councillor Gerry Lowe says they’ll be talking about how any disruption to businesses can be minimised because the state of the Saint John economy is fragile. He likes the idea of work being done at night.
Business owners on the east side are worried about the potential loss of customers who might become frustrusted with delays and holdups because traffic will be disrupted along Loch Lomand Road from April 17th for 60 days and then Westmorland Road starting in the middle of June.
The owner of the A Liz A Beth’s flower shop on Westmorland as you approach Loch Lomand Road is afraid she’ll go under. Westmorland Road from Loch Lomand Road to Ellerdale Street is scheduled to be closed from mid June to September.
