City fire crews responding to a fire at 550 Martha Avenue just before 8 on Sunday morning.
The kitchen of an apartment in a 24 unit building was fully involved when crews arrived.
They knocked down the fire pulling a 15 year old girl from the apartment who was treated by paramedics on scene and taken to hospital for possible smoke inhalation.
Heavy smoke spread throughout the building forcing the evacuation of about 50 people.
A City bus was called in for the displaced tenants and the Red Cross was also requested to assist anyone needing somewhere to stay.
The source of the fire was a cooking incident and crews cleared the scene around noon.
