Economic Growth May Be Limited Because Of Shortage Of Skilled Tradespeople

If you don’t have the skilled tradespeople on hand to do the work that’s necessary, you likely won’t be able to attract the investment money that’s needed to grow the economy. That’s why people should be concerned according to Bob Blakely of the Building Trades Unions in Canada.

He says the ramifications are wide ranging, pointing out homeowners would be affected as well because jobs around the house will be more expensive if you don’t have anough skilled tradespeople around to do them.

Blakely estimates 22 per cent of the construction workforce will be leaving over the next five years because of retirements.
