An award winning actor known for roles on television and in films has died.
Ed Asner’s family posted to his official Twitter account on Sunday, “We are sorry to say that our beloved patriarch passed away this morning peacefully. Words cannot express the sadness we feel. With a kiss on your head- Goodnight dad. We love you.”

Asner died on Sunday at the age of 91.
He starred on TV shows including Mary Tyler Moore and Lou Grant, and has hundreds of movie roles.
Asner was also an Emmy award winner for his roles in the mini-series “Roots” and “Rich Man, Poor Man”.
