Education Drives Prosperity: Saint John’s Path to a Brighter Future

What can we do to make Saint John Better ?

We are far behind in Post Secondary education but can change that.

The Promise Partnership Program at UNB Saint John is a great program where university students help children in their learning. This was great at a school I once taught at – Hazen White – St. Francis. I donated $3,000 to the promise partnership program and raised $9.2 million for UNB Saint John, the main university I went to.I have attended or raised money for UNB Saint John for 45 years. This is a deficit in our education and economy.

Post secondary education can make Saint John grow.

Saint John has 5,000 university and community college students , Fredericton has 11,000 and Moncton has 14,000.

This is provincially determined as that is who we give our taxes to.

As a candidate for Mayor I plan on trying to increase our post secondary numbers substantially. These low numbers is one of the main reasons Moncton has passed us and Fredericton has substantially gained on Saint John.

Post secondary can reduce poverty, bring in and maintain more younger people, increase population and dramatically improve our economy and competitiveness due to increased skills. It also makes us a much more attractive community to live in and helps people by giving them purpose. We can grow Saint John.

Love Saint John ❤️
