John Detorakis To Become Next St. George Mayor

John Detorakis has been elected the next mayor of the town of St. George.

Detorakis ended the night with 222 votes, according to the unofficial results from Elections New Brunswick.

Sharon Tucker placed second with 197 votes followed by incumbent Faith Avery with 137 votes.

There were a total of 12 people vying for one of six council seats, including one incumbent.

Brenda Allison will be joined by council newcomers Barbara Rayner, Sam Rubin, Alexa Detorakis, Leslie Armstrong, and Nancy Coulton.

Voter turnout in St. George was 49.12 per cent, above the provincial turnout of 30.35 per cent.
