More help for some New Brunswickers struggling to deal with the rising costs of pretty much everything.
The province announced Friday a second round of payments under the Emergency Fuel and Food Benefit.
Eligible low-income individuals, including seniors, will receive $225 each while families will get $450.
Several groups of people will be eligible to receive the one-time payment, including:
- Social Development clients who are receiving assistance from social or housing programs;
- some clients of the Disability Support Program; and
- seniors who apply for and receive the 2022 Low-Income Senior Benefit.
The province expects to distribute a total of around $22 million in payments.
According to a news release, the original benefit announced in June distributed $20.1 million to more than 69,000 households.
