Employment Picture Darkens For People Of Prime Working Age

The slump in oil prices has adversely affected employment, especially among workers between the ages of 25 and 54.

Over the last six months, employment growth for people in that age group has essentially been flat.

A lot depends on the job skills you possess. The former President and C-E-O of the Atlantic Provinces Economic Council, Elizabeth Beale says the higher your skills, the less you have to worry about getting a jor or holding on to one.

Beale says there’s concern over the hollowing out of the middle class and a great divide between workers with high skills that are in demand and those who are employed in the low service sector jobs with lower skills and lower pay.
