Expert Witness Testifies Baylee Wylie’s Blood Found On Devin Morningstar’s Pants

The Crown is continuing to build their case against Devin Morningstar, focusing today on blood evidence.

RCMP Sergeant Adrian Butler was called as an expert blood stain pattern analyst to deliver his report of his investigation of 96 Sumac Street.

Butler reported finding victim Baylee Wylie’s DNA profile in several blood stains in the living room, kitchen, and basement as well as basement stairs.

Defense Counsel Robert Rideout questioned Butler about whether the blood trail on the basement stairs was consistent with someone bleeding being dragged or crawling up them.

Butler said no he’d expect more blood and evidence of drag marks.

Butler testified Wylie’s DNA profile was found in a faint bloodstain on sweatpants seized from Morningstar at his arrest.

Three other DNA profiles were found at the scene designated as Male 1, Male 2 and Female 1 but they have not yet been identified.

The trial resumes tomorrow morning at 9:30
