Family Stranded In Woods Near Utopia Rescued

A family was rescued after becoming stranded in the woods when their utility terrain vehicle broke down near Utopia in Charlotte County.

Around 11pm on Monday, the driver of the vehicle called 911 to say that the vehicle had broken down. There was concern for the family, police say, because the temperature overnight was supposed to drop way below freezing.

About five hours later, in the early morning, the man, woman and a boy under the age of 10 were found walking along a trail in a very remote area near Route 585. They were all okay.

The St. George RCMP, the department of Natural Resources, Ambulance New Brunswick, and Charlotte County, York-Sunbury, and River Valley Ground search and rescue teams worked together to find the family.
