Enterprise Saint John is welcoming the announcement about the Lorneville barge terminal at the Spruce Lake Industrial Park.
The barge terminal will enable the transportation of large components which is difficult or simply impossible to do by road or rail.
74 jobs will be created during the construction phase. Mayor Mel Norton says there will be 175 good paying jobs when it’s up and running.
The province and federal government will each contribute 3 million dollars to the project.
Enterprise Saint John says with more than 350 major projects under development just in Atlantic Canada and a total value of $100 billion, the region stands to gain significantly.
