Federal Finance Minister Bill Morneau started his new budget sales trip Thursday afternoon by having a Q and A session with students and some faculty at UNB Saint John.

Morneau told the students about some of the initiatives that will help them in the budget such as a grace period upon graduation.
Morneau says “We gave all students a six-month break, when they get out of school to make sure they don’t have any debt payments during that six months, they have a hiatus while they get to work and there are no debt charges actually honoured during that time.”
There is also lower interest rates on student loans and the Minister was pleased to be able to offer a training benefit down the road.
” Take four weeks off work, and in those four weeks they will be able to have employment insurance funding, get 55 percent of their average wages and they will get a credit for $250 per year or $1,000 every four years to pay for that training,” Morneau stated.
